A Study on Effective Hemotheraphy

Abstract
In order to establish the guide line for effective hemotherapy, the authors investigated the blood data of 129,077 cases from 1986 to 1990 in Pusan National University Hospital.
The results of data analysis are as follows :
1. In the period of case study, transfusion ratio has increased annually, compared to hospital beds.
2. The ratio of blood component was 50.5% in 1986 and 90.1% in 1990.
3. Percent of single unit transfusion was 15.7% in 1986 and 31.0% in 1990.
4. The average ratio of returned blood of crossmatched blood was 1.4% per year. And the cause for returned blood wee excessive demand, death of patients and transfusion reaction, in order.
5. MSBOS(II) calculated on the amount of intraoperative bleeding gave more stable data than MSBOS(I) calculted on amount of transfusion.
On the basis of these analysis and review of literature, it is suggested that the enforcement of usage of blood component, decrease of single unit transfusion, setting of type & screen order and application of MSBOS would be of value for
effective
hemotherapy-Additionally utilization of autologous transfusion, blood component donation by pheresis and leukocyte removal filter in practical use of hemotherapy also were contributive to effective hemotherapy.
